Geo reportages about apes, their intelligence, vulnerability and ultimately hopeless situation in nature, form a popular subgenre on the subject of last resorts, jungles and conservation. At the same time, they are a popular genre in cinema history with dystopian traits and contribute to the humanization (appropriation) of animals in social media ("animal video"). In the exhibition, together with the visitors, they become exhausted living sculptures in space, seemingly observing each other.

Apes G.E.O.(1)

G.E.O. is a work by Joachim Blank that includes fine art prints with epoxy layers, a spatial installation and AR figures.  After the solo show at the Berlin art space “Möglichkeit einer Insel” in 2024, G.E.O. is now part of the group exhibition “Viewing the World - Positions of current post-photography and digital image culture" (curated by Sabine Maria Schmidt) at Kunstammlungen Chemnitz from July 28 - October 27, 2024. The AR part of G.E.O. includes four Ape-characters which are presented by OpenAR.
