Artwork description

Támata are small golden plaques that are placed by people beside images of saints in Greek Orthodox churches. Táma (singular) / Támata (plural), translate to promise or promises, respectively. On Támata one can see engraved different body parts, such as legs or eyes. Thusly, the dedication of these objects to God or a certain saint, secures the divine intervention that will guide and protect the body part depicted on them.
